Walter Bennink

Cat

Walter, Domestic Shorthair Orange Tabby, June 14, 2011 – September 23, 2026

Walter was a loving, wonderfully expressive companion whose distinctive meows, gentle paw taps, cuddles, and “old man” personality brought warmth and laughter to his family. Though they shared only the final chapter of his life, their Gingy Boy left a mark they will carry with them forever.

In Loving Memory of Walter

Domestic Shorthair – Orange Tabby

June 14, 2011 – September 23, 2026

Walter came into his family's life in 2021, after his first mom, Kim, passed away. On the very first day his new family moved into their home, Walter greeted them with a meow and promptly gave them the grand tour—making sure, of course, that they knew exactly where all of his treats and toys were kept.

As Walter's personality began to shine through, his family couldn't help but think of him as a little old man. He was very set in his ways and even had what they lovingly described as an “old man meow.” Affectionately known as Gingy Boy and Sweet Babboo, Walter had a whole collection of slightly different meows, and his family learned to know exactly what he wanted simply by listening to him.

Walter loved being close to his people. One of his favourite places was stretched out on a pillow above their heads, where he liked to become a “hat.” When he wasn't there, he could often be found perched on his cat tree by the front window, quietly watching the world go by.

He loved pats and cuddles and wasn't shy about asking for them. A gentle paw accompanied by a sweet, kitten-like meow was Walter's way of letting his family know when he needed a little extra attention. After they had been away at work, he would be waiting for them, ready to spend time together again.

Walter formed his own special relationship with each member of his family, but his bond with his mom was especially strong. She was his person, and sometimes no one else would do.

Although Walter's family shared only the final quarter of his life, the love they found in those years was immeasurable. Walter became an irreplaceable part of their home and family, leaving behind memories that will remain with them forever.
